Pearl Harbor Day

Remembering Pearl Harbor:

December 7, 1941. A date which will live in infamy, no matter how long it may take us to  overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might, will win  through to absolute victory. – President D. Roosevelt

The attack on Pearl Harbor was one of the most inhuman attacks on U.S. soil. Pearl Harbor is a U.S. naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii. It was the site of a devastating  surprise attack by Japanese forces on December 07, 1941. History tells us that just before 8 AM on that Sunday morning, hundreds of Japanese aircrafts descended on the base, and managed to destroy or damage nearly 20 American naval vessels. There were eight battleships, and over 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in  the surprise attack, including civilians, and another 1,000 people were wounded.  The day after the assault, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.

President Roosevelt went on to say, “No matter how long it may take us to overcome  this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win  through to absolute victory. I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will  make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.”

Freedom or independence is a prime motivator for self-determination. Our freedom is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution. Americans are resolved and united, and we shall not let such treachery in Pearl Harbor reoccur. We should fight the common enemy that we face, people who try to intimidate and squash our freedom to pursue  their selfish needs. We should continue to remember our heroes who perished while protecting those most cherished, fragile freedoms. On December 07, 2021, let us bow our heads, remember  our heroes, and continue to sustain our faith, conviction, and devotion to one another. One  Nation Under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All. May God bless America and God protect our valiant men and women in uniform who continue to fight so we can all enjoy our independence, our freedom.

Thanks.
